Rotary Club of Lagos recently donated 35 walking aids – crutches, wheelchairs and walkers – to the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria for the use of people living with disabilities – especially those due to complications of sickle cell disorder – and are unable to move freely.
It was inspiring to hear about the incredible works of the Rotary Club of Lagos and its unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. Their passion for helping those in need and desire to make a positive impact in the community is truly remarkable.
The National Director, Dr. Annette Akinsete, while receiving the gifts, thanked the Rotary Club, Lagos for its support and for helping the Foundation to provide mobility aids to sickle cell warriors who are challenged with mobility and are unable to move independently as a result of complications, such as leg ulcers and avascular necrosis – degeneration of the hip joint. She emphasized that together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of people living with sickle cell disorder.
