Every year, Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria lines up several events to celebrate World Sickle Cell Day. One such event is the Schools’ Quiz designed to create awareness of and knowledge about sickle cell disorder among the population of school age. This year the event was held on 1st June at the SCFN Multipurpose Hall, National Sickle Cell Center, Idi Araba, opposite the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.
In support of this event La Roche Leadership Foundation made a very generous donation of essential items, which included six backpacks, six Mathematical Sets, six Writing Notepads, six Higher Education Notebooks, six Story Books, one pack of pencils, and one pack of Pens. A cheque of Fifty Thousand naira as prize money was also included.
The Management of Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria, headed by the National Director, Dr. Annette Akinsete, was on hand to receive the donations. In her comments, the National Director thanked La Roche Foundation for its steadfast support over the years noting that, with partners like La Roche Foundation, a brighter future awaits those affected by sickle cell disorder.
